    What if the number of rows is dynamic – not always 20 (or any particular number? How could I add in for it to check all rows even if I’m not sure how many there are?

    How could I adopt this method to check data in a column for numbers starting with 88. for instance 880229, 880129, 880170 and delete their rows and the row above?

      Hi Mick,

      You can delete the rows by check if the left 2 stings equals to “88”, the below macro checks Column 1 for your scenario and deletes the row and its above row.

      Sub sbDelete_Rows_IF_Cell_Cntains_String_Text_Value()
      Dim lRow As Long
      Dim iCntr As Long
      lRow = 6
      For iCntr = lRow To 1 Step -1
      If Left(Cells(iCntr, 1), 2) = "88" Then
      Rows(iCntr).Delete
      If iCntr > 1 Then Rows(iCntr - 1).Delete
      iCntr = iCntr - 1
      End If
      Next
      End Sub

      Thanks-PNRao!
